KRYSTALRAE Spring 2012

I stumbled upon the KRYSTALRAE website when doing a bit of research into interesting website designs on Design Charts last night. I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to webby stuff and obviously you can imagine how I excited I was when I scrolled down on their website and realised they had displayed their latest collection in the coolest 'webby' way possible! As you scroll down through the clothing collection, the patterns on the clothing change in a seamless transition from one image to another. You have to see it to really appreciate the thought and technical skill which has gone into creating such an effect. It's quite a simple idea however I think it works really well!

On a non-webby and more fashion orientated note, KRYSTALRAE is a Filipino-American fashion designer based in New York. Her collections are all about strong prints and you can see from her latest collection that the brighter and bolder it is, the better!

'Krystalrae creates clothing with daring pattern combinations designed for that rare woman who has the confidence to stand out, pioneer trends, and is never one to follow.'

Here's her latest collection for Spring which will be available on April 12th. This particular collection was inspired by Matt W. Moore who produces art in various forms such as digital illustrations, watercolour paintings and, wait for it, aerosol murals. Krystalrae based her work around Matt as she believes that 'his larger-than life murals perfectly embody the spirit of a Krystalrae lady. She's a colourful piece of art walking through a grey world. This collection is dedicated to her - that woman who loves daring prints and has the courage to stand out.' A year ago I probably would've took one look at this collection and thought 'pfft, yeh right.' If there's one good thing that has come from this blog it's that it has definitely encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. And bold 'Krystalrae-esque' prints are definitely on my to do list.
