Among The Clouds

Yesterday was a big day in terms of achievements. Alongside two of my best friends I climbed Mount Snowdon in Wales, which also happens to be the highest mountain in Wales standing 1085m above sea level. The walk, or should I say hike, was in aid of Checkemlads, a testicular cancer support charity which offers support to men during cancer treatment and after being cleared of cancer. The walk was also in memory of all of those people who have not beaten cancer and have sadly passed away.

I managed to raise my target of £100 and Marc raised an outstanding £230, which we are really proud of. I'd also like to say thank you to everyone who donated money, your kindness won't be forgotten. The walk itself was hard going considering our fitness levels but it was definitely worth it. The legs are a little achey today, Marc's bad knee has swollen and Lisa is slowly recovering from panic attack overload after tackling her fear of heights but we all made it and can be very proud of ourselves.

Tomorrow my Dad is going to be having a major operation to remove his prostate as earlier this year cancerous cells were found in there. The op will not only get rid of the cancer but prevent it from spreading. Good luck Dad, you'll rock that operation!! <3

So it's a big week for cancer... but in a positive way as we are fighting it, not bowing down to it.

  1. Huge congratualtions, both for completing the hike and raising a great amount of money! Best of luck to your Dad; my mum was diagnosed with cancer a few years back and I know how scary it is. Especially seeing them go through operations and so on. Well done again though, and you've really made me want to do something like this to do my own part in raising awareness / money for such charities xx

  2. Such a great achievement on your part and I give you 2 thumbs up for doing your part in charity. You even looked cute doing it!

  3. Congratulations! This is an absolutely amazing achievement and fantastic way to raise money for charity.
I'm pretty jealous because I would love to climb Mount Snowden.
I hope everything goes well for your dad.
    Lottie :) xx

  4. Huge congratulations to you and your friends for your braveness! I think it's so so important to support these kind of events nowadays! Sometimes people think that it's not relevant if they go or not but it makes the all difference! Thank you for sharing these amazing experience (not only the climbing part and the breathtaking landscape but also the meaning of it!) with us, the fact that people get united to help/support other people always makes me so happy and makes me smile!:)

I hope your dad's operation goes well! I wish all the best for your dad and remeber "cancer is not a death sentence". Be brave! <3

  5. Congratulations on making it to the top and raising so much money for such a great cause.
Hope your dad's operation goes okay

  6. Well done! I knew you'd do brilliantly, you should be so proud of yourself - it's such a wonderful thing you've done :-)

  7. Well done for making it to the top!The hat suits you, you look cute :)
Wishing your dad all the best for the op!
