ELLE Internship & London Life Recap

Hello folks,

Apologies for the lack of blogging / keeping you all up to date via social media of late. It's pretty difficult to work full-time hours, get home, make dinner, clean up, do all the necessary stuff in preparation for the following day and blog as well (welcome to the real world Tasha). I don't have my camera with me in London either which makes for a particularly difficult blogging experience, especially as the photographs are usually quite important.

I just thought I'd write to you guys to keep you all posted on my internship at ELLE magazine - I figured it might be useful for anyone who fancies interning there in the future (something which I'd definitely recommend). The past four weeks have absolutely flown by and I have to say, I've thoroughly enjoyed all that I've been doing... The internship is specifically within the features department and daily tasks include: writing articles for, researching potential features ideas, taking notes in meetings, coffee and tea rounds (of course), updating social media platforms, calling in pictures from PRs, and the occasional admin task. It's really interesting as it's so varied and there's always something interesting happening in the office - for example, the time that Richard E Grant popped in for a chat, or when I made Nick Grimshaw a cuppa (he's really lovely by the way) and he brought his extremely cute puppy in! It's crazy, but good. Crazy good. I've also met some really cool people: the ELLE ladies and also my fellow interns - big shout out to Hannah and Matthew (YO) - who I will definitely be keeping in touch with.

Friday was technically my last day at ELLE however they've decided they'd like to keep me on until March to do a different type of internship (more fashion / events based) which I'm very excited about! AHHHH! This week I'm back home briefly to tie a few things up at work and then I'll be back down to London until March time - I'm extremely excited for part two of my ELLE adventure!

Whilst I've been in London, I've been trying to seize the opportunity to explore what the city has to offer. Most of the time, after work, I'm ready to drop and don't fancy going out and exploring, however the weekends have been a different matter. A couple of weekends ago, my dear friend Chelsea from the Shire (Shropshire) came down to visit and we did some touristy things like visiting the National Portrait Gallery, eating the most sickly (yet tasty) belgian waffles at the Häagen-Dazs cafe, Leicester Square as well as taking a trip to Hackney on the Saturday night to check out a newly opened bar / restaurant / club there called OSLO - if All Saints did nightlife, this place would be it. I have to say, I enjoyed all of the above and it was good fun to play tourist.

This weekend, before I came home, Jack and I went to Bam-Bou on Percy Street for cocktails and food. We'd been to Bam-Bou before for a meal (when Jack first came to London) and were very impressed. Because of the launch of their new Valentine's cocktails - Love Potions - we decided to go again. I have to admit, I've never tasted cocktails like it and if you're ever near Tottenham Court tube station I suggest you go and try some for yourself. Red Bar is on the top floor of Bam-Bou and it's the cosiest bar you could imagine - it's really intimate and the bar staff definitely know their stuff. They're the cocktail masters. I had an Ever After Elixir love potion, a Marco Polo cocktail and then a lemon cocktail with a piece of volcanic rock placed in my glass (couldn't quite remember the name of that one). Jack, meanwhile, tried the Lovers Liquer love potion (a mandarine-flavoured delight), a whisky cocktail and an extremely strong cocktail packed with alcohol which again, I can't remember the name of. All in all, it was a pretty super night!

So yes, that's my month in London in a nutshell. It's been fabulous and I'm really really really looking forward to Tasha-takes-London-part-deux. What have you guys been up to of late? I've missed y'all! xxx
