Outfit O'Clock #252 - The Lingerie Dress (Office to Evening)

H A P P Y  M O N D A Y

First of all, can we please take a moment to appreciate the new 'do? (Pictured above!)

I got my mop chopped on Wednesday afternoon at Black Orchid salon in Shifnal. I'd never been before, but my parents go there so I thought I'd try them out - I'm so glad I did. Hair-miracle-maker Adrian worked some serious wonders with the old bonse by not only rejigging my fringe so that more of my face and cheek bones are now on show (whit woo) but by giving me a super sharp, long bob cut too. It didn't take too much effort, but good lordy lord could I tell the difference afterwards! Their salon is also super lovely with a bejewelled piano, quirky furniture and upside down coffee tables used as shelves. I'd definitely recommend taking a trip there for a mop chop if you're ever in the area! #newhairdocare

Moving on to...

I was always a little uncertain about whether I liked lingerie dresses or not, until I spied this little number at the Kardashian Kollection / Lipsy press day. Before I'd always thought to myself 'oh they're impractical,' 'where would I wear such a thing?' 'they're too skimpy' etc., etc. But then my views suddenly changed after seeing someone styling a lingerie dress with a tailored blazer. It looked super chic and I thought, 'hmm ok let's give this trend a try'.

With this lingerie style dress from the Kardash Kollection, not only did I fall in love with the contrast of the lace detailing around the bust area and hem line, but I was also quite taken with the colour! I don't wear blue that often, but suddenly it seemed quite attractive to me. Following on from my M&S versatility posts last week, I felt inspired to do the same with my new lingerie dress and see if it could be styled for daywear and nightwear too. For example, if you've got to rush out from the office to go to an evening event, what do you wear? Well, I opted to wear my lingerie dress during the day with a striped Primark jumper (avec a cute crotchet collar) thrown over the top of said dress. Because I'm a tad vertically challenged, I opted to wear heels, however I could've probably popped on some cute loafers and nobody would've batted an eyelid.

For evening, I whipped off the jumper and hid the large daytime handbag. Then, I simply added a tailored sleeveless jacket (to look all cool and effortless, a tailored suit jacket would also look immense), grabbed a funky orange segment clutch bag (so as not to look too serious) and voila! Two outfits in one :)

The final look...

  7. If there's one upside to a downturn, it's that the consumer suddenly has new power: it's a buyer's market. Paradoxically, the eve of a recession might be just the time to consider that long-promised long Tour Travel Hotels away because now, more than ever, those hard-pressed hotels want your business. So, in this season of mists, mellow fruitfulness and monetary meltdown, hunt around for a bargain.
