The low down: Nica Kim, the very talented lady behind handbag brand, Nica, has drawn inspiration for next season's collection predominantly from her travels. Her designs are never trend-driven, but more of a showcase of what inspires her, what she's seen and what she likes. And I have to say, that girl's got good taste!
Next season's handbag collection shows off an Autumnal colour scheme with mustard yellow, teal (my fave), olive green, aubergine and postbox red being just some of the gorgeous colours to choose from. Yummy yummy, I love a good colour scheme. Sadly I didn't get to meet Nica in person (as I was a little late to the press-day-party) however I did manage to fire over some questions to her via email which she very kindly answered. After reading her answers, I've come to the conclusion that I'd like to be her best friend. Here's why...

Which area of the world has inspired your collection the most?
I am always influenced by London where I live, as it’s such an eclectic mix of inspiring things.
And also my native Korea!
What aspect of being a designer do you love the most?
Being able to do what I love is the best feeling ever. I love being creative, and the opportunity to travel to find inspiration.
If you could collaborate with any other designer in the world, who would it be?
I am influenced by many different designers but if I really had to choose it would be either Tsumori Chisato who does amazing animated prints. The designs are always fun and quirky, and tell a story. Or Paul Smith, because I love how he makes his designs approachable to not just one kind of girl.
Your designs have a vintage feel to them.
If you could travel back in time to any era, which would it be?
The 70s because I absolutely love the fashion from that era. Flower power, the crazy creative colour pairings and of course the hippies’ styles. I’ve often created new handbags with the 70s in mind!
Finally the most important of all: do you like biscuits? And if so, which kind?
Yes!!! I love all biscuits and sweet treats. In fact the only thing that I don’t really like is liquorish!

After mooching around the Nica showroom (and eating my bodyweight in ham sandwiches and sushi), I decided to venture over and check out Fiorelli's AW14 offerings. I was particularly drawn to the vibrant colours, croc-effect detailing and their amazing costume jewellery!
I also spied some very pretty, nude undies from Princess Tam Tam on my mooching travels...
